HelloInterloper Loves Bully Breed Rescue!

On September 2nd, I attended a Bully Breed Rescue event at the Country Cow Deli in Fairfield, CT. Not only did I get to see my favorite bully, Drake, but I also donated some new earrings to one of their raffles!

BBR is an awesome pit-bull rescue based in New Canaan that has adopted out many lovable bullies, and I've been an avid supporter ever since I met Hamilton (now named Hambone) while going to a local restaurant with my boyfriend. I am one of those annoying people who always stop and ask dog owners if I can say hello to their dog... and they were overjoyed to let me meet him! After explaining where they got their pup from, how lovable he is, and how it gets tiring seeing people literally cross the street to avoid their dog, I couldn't help but be intrigued to find out more about this rescue group and their events. (After all, I had worked as a dog washer for over half a year, and was missing working with dogs immensely!) I wasn't scared of pit bulls at this point; my job had showed me that pit bulls were some of the most loving dogs imaginable.

After attending an event in February, I was hooked. There is something hilariously cute about big, tough-looking pups wanting nothing more than to give you a kiss, get a belly rub, and a cuddle! I've been attending their events ever since. This was my first time donating however, and I hope that my earrings can help raise some money for this amazing rescue group!

I even got an Instagram "Thank You" from the Vice Pres of BBR! :)

Thought I'd share a drawing I made a few weeks ago!
I got a big set of 50 markers for $10 when I last visited Jon in Delaware, and was dying to try them out... and what better way to take them for a test run than to draw a Staffy?
For those not in the know, Staffordshire Bull Terriers are the UK's pitbull. Most dogs in shelters there are Staffys, and they tend to be demonized by the media. Though both the Staffy and pitbull share a common ancestor, the Staffy doesn't grow to be more than 35lbs and can sometimes be half the size of a pitbull.
I met my first Staffy at my dog-washer job, and it was love at first sight. His name was Earl, and he was one of the friendliest dogs at the facility. He loved people, was best friends with a female mini dachshund less than a third his size, and wouldn't hurt a fly. If the doxie took a toy from him and was guarding it, he'd bark at her, and then at us rather than lunge and take it away. It was as if he knew his strength and wanted us to help him out rather than risk hurting her. Even more incredible, when he was in the play area he was confronted by a pitbull pup... rather than start a fight, he walked to the corner and sat. He ended up being peed on, but he took it rather than resorting to violence. I was touched by his self-control and love for people.
Ever since leaving my job I've been missing that goofy pup, and musing about getting a Staffy of my own. How I'll go about getting one is up in the air, possibly literally... One of my current options is to fly to the UK and adopt one from a shelter, then fly him back to the US. If that'll even work is a mystery to me, but one can hope.
I also have to move out of my parent's place first... at least that'll be happening in less than two years.

Well hello there! Today I am writing this blog entry using my iPhone. I'm using the voice to text program, Siri. There will probably be a few typos, but that's expected when using any voice to text program.
I just wanted to give everybody a quick update on what's going on. Just yesterday I took photos of my new earrings and other items that I will be posting shortly to my Etsy shop.
I've also finally gone back to college. I am studying at the local community college and taking two classes, forensic science and criminal investigation. They have been good so far, but I've had trouble getting my criminal investigation textbook. When I ordered it the first time the order got canceled, and I had to reorder. It still hasn't arrived yet, even though it has been a week. I'm hoping it will come soon.
In other news I quit my job so I could have more time for my studies. I really really miss the dogs. It's been hard coping with not being able to visit the kennel every morning, but I guess that's just a part of life. I've been looking up for adoption rallies for rescue groups that I could attend to get some exposure to dogs. I miss being able to interact with them. There is a rally nearby being held by Bully Breed Rescue in February. I definitely want to go.
As for crafting, I've been a little lazy. I've been trying to juggle schoolwork, playing World of Warcraft with my boyfriend, which I finally convinced him to play with me, and family life. I've also haven't been feeling well lately. I slept a lot recently, and I think I need to get my blood checked again. I'm worried about my anemia is still not under control. I haven't had a physical in two years so I really need to get on that.
Oh wait, I just realized, it is February! That means our dog is going to get her teeth cleaned this month. Thank goodness. She is 10 years old and her breath smells like a fish market. Seriously, it smells like low tide.
Anyway, I will end this blog entry now. I have to leave in 10 minutes to try to find the library at my college. Our printer hasn't worked in years because my dad keeps forgetting to call a computer specialist in to get it working. It's one of those wireless ones, but we were never able to get it to work. I need to go print out my homework at the library before my class at 8:30. I have forensic science.
